Palmer Award winning local rancher Elin Ganschow will discuss ranching, land conservation, and the economic viability of selling food off the land directly to consumers. Early on she realized the benefits of grass fed-beef for the rancher, the land, and the ethical treatment of cattle. In 2007, Elin and her family permanently protected their 3,800 acre, ranch from development with a conservation easement through the San Isabel Land Protection Trust. Today the latest technology and science are utilized to grow better pasture by practicing managed grazing. She was doing grass-fed before grass-fed was cool way back in 1992.
