First and foremost, we want to send a huge shout-out and THANK YOU to everyone who donated to the Library and the Friends of the Library through the Community Foundation’s Spirit Campaign! We are so grateful for your support, and have some marvelous things planned for this year. Stay tuned via our Facebook and/or Instagram accounts, our website, and our monthly newsletter! If you are not already getting our monthly listing of Library happenings, all it takes is an email to info@westcusterlibrary.org saying you want to sign up. Or go to our website www.westcusterlibrary.org and click “Email Newsletter” on the very topmost line. Or even just give us an old-fashioned call at 719-783-9138. We’ll make sure to get you the latest Library news.
It’s not too late to catch the last installment in the wellness series Take Charge of Your Health with Dr. Ed Hunt on Tuesday March 3rd. Jointly sponsored by the Library and the Custer County Wellness Council, this final session will focus directly on what you can do to help yourself to greater wellness, and will springboard off the information about body systems covered in the previous sessions. No matter if you missed the earlier sessions: bring yourself and your questions to take charge of your health.
Here’s another great wellness opportunity – snowshoeing for adults and kids. Join the Library, Custer County Public Health Agency, and Trails for All as we present Intro to Snowshoeing. The information session will happen in the school’s multi-purpose room on Wednesday, February 25th at 4:15 p.m. and follow up with two chances to try it out: Saturday, March 7 is a snowshoe event for parents and kids, while Saturday, March 14 is for teens 12-18. The Feb 25 introductory session, which is REQUIRED in order to register for the actual event(s), will cover what gear you will need, what you need to know about winter vs. summer conditions, avalanche safety and more. Get out and enjoy winter (and pray for snow)!
If, however, you find yourself laid up, out of commission, or otherwise unable to get to the Library for books or programs, consider Library to GoGo, the Library’s home delivery and transportation to Library events. Are you recovering from surgery? Car in the shop after hitting a bull elk? Are you mobility impaired in other ways? We will deliver books, DVDs, or any other Library materials directly to you at home. We can also teach you how to download e-books or e-audiobooks using Libby, the Library’s ebook platform, or how to access free films in English or Spanish using Kanopy or Bibliotele. If you’re up for it, we can even transport you to interesting Library programs using the Rotary Van Service to both pick you up and bring you home. Call us at 719-783-9138 or send us an email at info@westcusterlibrary.org to register.
And now that we’ve had Spring in the Winter, let us have Winter in the Spring! Let it snow!
