International Observe the Moon Night Event
Join lunar enthusiasts from around the globe and spend an evening observing the Moon. Dark Skies of the Wet Mountain Valley and the West Custer County Library are co-sponsoring NASA’s International Observe the Moon Night at the Smokey Jack Observatory on Friday, October 19 at 7 p.m. This free event is open to the public and will take place at The Bluffs, 115 S. Adams Blvd, in Westcliffe.
International Observe the Moon Night is an annual worldwide public outreach event that encourages observation, appreciation, and understanding of the Moon and its connection to planetary science and exploration.
Dark Skies members will be on hand to provide commentary and field questions for this telescopic lunar event. The group will use the Observatory telescope to project images on a large screen and personal telescopes for eyepiece viewing by attendees.
